More than 350 people came together at the De Luna Ranch in Brentwood
Saturday for the “Chris Aid: Cher the Love” benefi t, an effort
to raise money for, and the spirits of, Chris “Cher” Robinson.
The longtime community volunteer, who is recovering from breast cancer
and dealing with fi nancial hardship, wept frequently as she greeted guests
from as far away as Florida. “I’m truly blessed to know that so many people
love me,” she said. The day included, clockwise from above: The guest of
honor expressing her appreciation to the crowd toward the end of the day;
Robinson sobbing with Misty Hummel, a longtime friend she hadn’t seen
for 19 years and who drove down from Washington for the event; daughters
Christy and Katrina helping their mother read a message of love and
support; and a conga line winding its way through the crowd to the music
of Stringin’ Along, one of four bands (including Misbehavin’, the Dave Crimmen
Band and Desert Moon) that played. Dozens of businesses and individuals
donated prizes for a raffl e, and the food and beverages were prepared
and served by Lions clubs of Brentwood and Oakley.
