Taking a dim view of Houston
Editor:
Personally, I/we have for years presented
problems for our assemblyman to
correct at the state level.
His letters he mails out about what
help he will get for the people he is to
represent. Ask him to get some information
at the state level (you will be lucky
if you get a reply). We have tried for two
years to get laws changed at the state level.
His staff seems to be helpful but that
is as far as it goes. If it is not of his interest,
nothing will be done. In our opinion,
we don’t believe he knows how to present
anything in the State Assembly.
In my opinion, he is a rubber stamp
on issues someone has presented and he
pats himself on the back as voting on the
issue.
At a town meeting, when asked
about illegal immigrants, his answer:
“Don’t hire them” (next question). His
position seems to be: anything that’s
illegal is OK as long as you don’t hire
them. Present him with something that’s
illegal and needs to be corrected by state
laws – he’s not interested. (We made a
presentation over two years ago). We are
still waiting.
Now Mr. Houston wants to be a

county supervisor. That’s going backwards:
from state assemblyman to a
county supervisor.
His statement, “I believe experience
as the past mayor of Dublin and as a
state lawmaker will allow me to make
valuable contribution to the county.”
He is not a lawmaker (he has never
made any).
He refused to correct laws at the
state level, or he doesn’t know how.
In my opinion, he is a castoff from
the state assembly. Term limits would
have nothing to do with his staying out
of a state position.
Do the voters want a rubber stamp
state assemblyman for a rubber stamp
county supervisor?
Could the 60-percent raise and cost
of living and closer to his home be his
reason to change? Then he would not
have to travel to Sacramento.
I voted for him once, but never
again. I have his mail outs and e-mails.
My fi nal opinion of Assemblyman
Houston or as a representative of the
people: “He is worthless.”
For people who do not know, we
have had problems in the past with
county supervisors for our area, like Tom
Torlakson, Donna Gerber, Millie Greenberg
– that’s why the county is in the
fi nancial mess it has today. Do we really
want to put another one in? Make sure
of what and whom you are voting for.
