neighbor directly. We’re creating dialog
with the neighbors and encouraging
them to check on each other.”
In an effort to stay informed,
Debra Trivisonno, a mother of two,
regularly corresponds with neighbors
regarding occurrences she’s witnessed.
Although her family is updating their
personal security system, placing
cameras in front of their house, she
says what’s really necessary is good
old-fashioned communication.
“Our car was broken into two
months ago, our neighbor on Arlington
was robbed, another neighbor’s
fence was set on fi re and a lot of
neighbors are concerned,” Trivisonno
said. “We need to look out for each
other. All of us in the neighborhood
watch group know to call if something
looks suspicious. Even if it turns out
to be nothing, we’d rather be safe than
sorry.”
Keady encourages all Brentwood
residents to stay proactive in fi ghting
crime by keeping all doors and windows
locked, arming their home security
systems daily, installing motion
sensor lighting outside the home and
starting a neighborhood watch program.
Above all, she aims to address
a common misconception held by the
general public.
R
“We at the Brentwood Police Department
want people to know that
calling us to report incidents really
enhances our ability to stop people,
question them and perhaps arrest
them in connection with the call,”
Keady said. “Many people feel they
don’t want to burden us, so they dismiss
any gut feeling they might have.
We encourage them to act on those
gut feelings.”
