Good food, live music, raffle prizes
and a worthy cause are all on the menu
for the upcoming Delta Community
Services Country Western Barbecue on
Saturday, Aug. 30 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
at the Brentwood Community Center,
730 Third St.
Local country band Misbehavin
will provide musical entertainment,
and Chef Bob Brockman and Company
will provide a tri-trip barbecue
dinner complete with corn on the cob,
French bread and dessert.
“This is a really fun event that
we’ve done several times,” said Brockman,
who cooks and serves for the
event with his children Bobby, Jordan
and Robin. “It’s just something that we
do. It’s a great time.”
Proceeds from the nonprofit fundraiser,
sponsored by Delta Community
Services, Inc., will benefit the Rose
Pierce Community Chest Fund. Tickets
for the event are $12.50 for adults and
$10 for children 13 and under. Tickets
can be purchased at the Brentwood
Press office, 248 Oak St. For more information,

The East Contra Costa Historical
Society’s biggest yearly fundraiser will
feature added glitter and plenty of buzz
this year, as gold panning and a beekeeper
display have been added to the
lineup.

the Society’s Byer-Nail House Museum,

Thar’s gold at that thar barbecue
museum’s kitchen, which was recently
restored to its 19th-century appearance.
The fun begins at 2 p.m., and dinner
will be served at 4 p.m. Tickets to
the event are $20 for adults and $10 for
children 6 to 12. Kids under 6 are free.
