signs up everywhere to promote Mary’s
campaign. These are very impersonal,
and are not doing her and her husband
the justice they deserve.
I am not a politician, nor am I
usually involved with anything having
to do with a campaign. The Piephos
helped me feel like a part of the process,
and they have allowed me to feel
like a citizen with a voice.
David and Mary worked with me
directly to place the duck signs around
Discovery Bay. Maybe the signs are
helping, maybe they aren’t, but that
isn’t the point. The point is that I
spoke, they listened and they acted.
I attended meetings and heard
David speak and listened to Mary’s
commentaries on other issues affecting
Discovery Bay. Every citizen was
addressed respectfully and was given
the chance to be heard. Whether or not
the issues worked out in favor of what
the citizen was requesting is beside the
point. Both David and Mary worked
as a team to fi gure out pros and cons
to those requests and acted in a way
that made me feel like they were just
citizens in the community, too.
When I want someone to represent
me, I look for a person with strong
leadership and the ability to use that
leadership in a positive way. I believe
Mary has that ability and I fully support
her in all she is working to accom-

I am 22 and currently attending
Los Medanos College. I have always
been a big fan of the Brentwood Press.
I wanted to say thank you for delivering
stories on issues that we, the community,
feel are important and need to
be addressed. What I also like about
the Brentwood Press are the diverse
stories you and your staff share with
us.
I was reading the most current
issue of the Brentwood Press on April
18 and it reminded me why I continue
to read the Brentwood Press. As I have
said, the Press offers a diversity of stories;
for example, this issue of the paper
included a story about the Citizen
of the Year being awarded, and a most
touching story of our men and women
who return home from overseas to see
their families.
I think it’s great when the Brentwood
Press shares stories like these to
our community. I truly feel that the
Brentwood Press brings our community
together as well as touches
our hearts and reminds us how lucky
we are to be parts of this community.
