Gabriel Pierce, a second-grader at Laurel Elementary in Oakley,
took home second-place honors and a brand new laptop
computer for his entry in the Mr. Funnelhead Calendar Art
contest. The countywide competition, sponsored by the Contra Costa
Clean Water program, teaches students about recycling used motor
oil. Gabriel is the youngest student to ever make the calendar. Over
10,000 of the Mr. Funnelhead calendars will be created from the winning
designs. Way to go, Gabriel!
