Christian “Kit” Sanders
Oakley resident Christian “Kit”
Sanders, 70, passed away peacefully
June 19 after a three-month cancer
journey.
Kit was born in Los Angeles in
1937 and was a former peace officer,
detective and property manager
for LLNL. He remained active in his
community upon retirement, serving
on the Lions Club Board of Directors
and Bethel Island Municipal Advisory
Council. He also worked closely
with the Contra Costa County Board
of Supervisors, was a former Bethel
Island fire commissioner, a member
of the Torrance Retired Police Officers
Association and former Youth
Safety Run advisor.
Kit was a resident of Pleasanton
before moving to the Delta. He

loved the water, traveling and spending
time with family and friends. He
is survived by his daughter, Christy
of Orange Village, Ohio; son, Steve
of Discovery Bay; and six grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his
wife, Cindy.
A Celebration of Life was held
on June 27 at the San Joaquin Yacht
Club on Bethel Island. The family
requested donations be made to City
of Hope, 1055 Wilshire Blvd., 12th
Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90017.
Patricia Rounds
Oakley resident Patricia Rounds
went home to be with the Lord on
June 17. Patricia was preceded in
death by her loving husband, Herbert
Rounds, and son, Thomas William
Rounds. She is survived by her loving
children, Edward Rounds, William
(Nancy) Rounds and Herbert (Sefia)
Rounds, Jr., all of Oakley; sisters, Veronica
Galvin and Marguerite Price;
brother, Edward (Laura) O’Reilly;
six adoring grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren
and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Patricia was an extremely loving
person who enjoyed the little
things in life. Her greatest passion
was spending time with her family.
She will be deeply missed by all who
knew her. At her request, no services
will be held.
70th Anniversay
Hoover and Freda Kennedy are proud
to announce their parents’ 70th wedding
anniversary. Hoover and Freda
were married July 9, 1938 in Stockton
and have lived most of their lives
in Oakley. Their proud children are
Gerald Kennedy (Janice) of Weimar;
Derrel Kennedy (Diane) of Lafayette;
Barbara Clemons (George) of Brentwood;
four grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren. The children will
be taking the couple out for a celebratory
dinner.

Discovery Bay residents and proud parents Garrett and Sarah
Johnson are happy to announce the birth of their beautiful
daughter, Giana Marie Johnson, on June 7, her due date,
at 10:16 a.m. Giana was born at Kaiser Deer Valley in Antioch and
she weighed in at 8 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 21 inches.
