Comedy’s top cop

Michael Mancini, three-time winner of the Funniest Cop in America
title and 2007’s Funniest Cop in the World competition will
bring his comedy to Brentwood next week. The Santa Cruz police
officer, seen above being congratulated by Jay Leno after winning
one of his titles, will appear at Cap’s Oak Street Bar & Grill on Aug. 29.
Cocktail hour begins at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9. The show is being
presented by Bob-O Phillips, who said his goal is to “bring quality comedy
to Brentwood at a low price.” Tickets for next week’s performance
are $15, and can be purchased by calling 925-634-1025. Cap’s is located at
144 Oak St. in downtown Brentwood.
Local musician on the
lawn at Shadow Lakes
The second installment of the
Shadow Lakes Summer Concert Series
will feature a homegrown talent who
recently launched his first CD.
Progressive Acoustic Rock artist
Ben Benkert, whose Meritage Records
CD “Live it Up!” was released
last week in San Francisco, will be the
featured artist at the show on Aug. 30
at 7 p.m.
General admission is $10 ($5 for
Shadow Lakes and Deer Ridge members).
VIP (stagefront) seating is $55
(advance sales only; $45 for Shadow
Lakes and Deer Ridge members) and
includes a gourmet box dinner with
choice of 16-ounce Jack Daniels porterhouse
or macadamia-crusted halibut,
plus a bottle of wine from Hannah
Nicole Vineyards. Admission is
free for kids 12 and under. Those in
the general admission audience are encouraged
to bring a blanket.
