Country
Western
Barbecue
Good food, live music, raffle prizes
and a worthy cause are all on the menu
for the upcoming Delta Community
Services Country Western Barbecue on
Saturday, Aug. 30 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
at the Brentwood Community Center,
730 Third St.
Local country band Misbehavin
will provide musical entertainment,
and Chef Bob Brockman and Company
will provide a tri-trip barbecue
dinner complete with corn on the cob,
French bread and dessert.
“This is a really fun event that
we’ve done several times,” said Brockman,
who cooks and serves for the
event with his children Bobby, Jordan
and Robin. “It’s just something that we
do. It’s a great time.”
Proceeds from the nonprofit fundraiser,
sponsored by Delta Community
Services, Inc., will benefit the Rose
Pierce Community Chest Fund. Tickets
for the event are $12.50 for adults and
$10 for children 13 and under. Tickets
can be purchased at the Brentwood
Press office, 248 Oak St. For more information,
call 925-634-8275.
The East Contra Costa Historical
Society’s biggest yearly fundraiser will
feature added glitter and plenty of buzz
this year, as gold panning and a beekeeper
display have been added to the
lineup.
The ECCHS Community Family
Barbecue is set for Sunday, Sept. 7 at
the Society’s Byer-Nail House Museum,
3890 Sellers Ave., on the border of
Brentwood and Knightsen. As in previous
years, the event will feature a tri-tip
dinner, live music, a car show and raffle
prizes. Recent additions to the goingson
– a Civil War encampment and horse
smithing demonstration – will also return,
as will the free, docent-led tours of
the museum, built in 1878.
In addition to the gold-panning and
the bees, new sights to see include the
the grounds of
the East Contra
Costa Historical
society’s Byer-
Nail Museum
will come alive
with music, tours,
activities and
delicious food at
the society’s annual
Community
Family Barbecue
on sunday, sept. 7.
