Animals to
be blessed
Taking the cue from Saint Francis
of Assisi – patron saint of animals and
the environment, and champion of justice
and peace – the Area Ministry Team
of the Episcopal Church in East Contra
Costa County is sponsoring a service in
the park and blessing of the animals on
the Feast of Saint Francis, Sunday, Oct.
5 beginning at 10 a.m. in Williamson
Ranch Park (corner of Lone Tree Way
and Hillcrest Avenue).
The reverends Amber Sturgess and
Aris Rivera will offi ciate. Community
members are welcome to attend the service
and bring their pets to the blessing.
All dogs should be on leash and other
animals should be confi ned to cages.
Refreshments will be served.
The Area Ministry Team is a collaboration
of St. George’s and St. Alban’s
Episcopal Church in Brentwood,
which share resources and support each
other’s activities.
Watercolors
at Lynn House
The Lynn House Gallery is proud
to host Pablo Villicana: Holding on
to Traditions, an exhibit of watercolors
that celebrates the artist’s Mexican
heritage. A free reception will be held
Saturday, Oct. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. and
is co-hosted by GATO (Give Always to
Others) in celebration of Hispanic Heritage
Month.
Through bold color, dramatic lighting,
handmade objects such as pottery,
baskets, blankets and musical instruments,
as well as fl owers and other cultural
objects, Villicana creates paintings
that speak of the heart of the Mexican
people and culture.
The Lynn House Gallery is located
