County wines take
tasty spotlight
The fourth annual The Wines
of Contra Costa wine tasting fundraiser
will take place on Saturday,
May 10 on the beautiful grounds of
the Antioch Historical Society, 1500
W. Fourth St., from 3 to 6 p.m. Attendees
will have the opportunity to
taste wines made from grapes grown
exclusively in Contra Costa County
(did you know there is a winery that
grows grapes on the slopes of Mt.
Diablo?)
The event also features delectable
hors d’oeuvres, an olive oil tasting
and silent auction. The raffle’s
grand prize (registration #R-5278)
is a gift certificate to the Sonoma
Mission Inn & Spa, valued at $635.
The other two drawings offer prizes
of dinner for two on the Napa Valley
Wine Train, valued at $194, and
a wine basket,
valued at
$150. Raffle
tickets cost
$10. Raffle
participants
need not be
present to win.
Wine tasting
tickets are $30 if
purchased by May 2;
$35 afterward and at
the door.
Los Medanos College alumni
may purchase tickets for $20 (by
