Taco Del Mar awaits your pleasure
by Ray Carter
Correspondent
There’s a new Mexican restaurant
in Brentwood, a place where
the motto “Delicious is our middle
name” is striking its customers as
more than PR.
Owner Sean Goshtasbi and his
wife, Mila Patricio, were impressed
with the Taco Del Mar franchise
system and its fresh food after experiencing
it in Spokane, Wash. “We
were looking for an operation of our
own and we thought this franchise
was ideal,” said Goshtasbi.
What makes Taco Del Mar different
is the breadth of options it gives
its customers. The food is created
daily from the freshest ingredients
and is served from behind a counter
where everything is visible. The customer
orders an entree or a meal and
can select the meat, add-ons and
most appealing sides to go with it.
The store offers burritos, platters,
salads, tacos and quesadillas
that run anywhere from $3.99 to
$5.99. Transform them into a combo
for another $1.99. Your meat can be
carne asada steak, braised chicken,
seasoned pork, ground or shredded
beef, even Alaskan fi sh. Vegans can
have it their way, also. Got kids? No
problemo – items on Taco Del Mar’s
special kids’ menu go for $2.79.
And there’s a lot more the store
can do for the adults. It can take
care of your need for carry-out; it
offers catered meals featuring taco
or nacho bar take-out for $7.95 per
person (minimum of 20 people); it’ll
even bring an enchilada bar to your
location and set it up for $8.95 per
person (same minimum). And, for
$9.95 per person (minimum of 50
people), Taco Del Mar will set up and
serve a taco salad bar or Baja Bowl
bar at your location (24-hour notice
is required for catering).
Antioch resident Goshtasbi, a
30-year veteran of the restaurant
business, has his own motto: ”When
you’re happy and full, we’re happy.”
Customer Ryan Thorpe is one of
many customers who make Goshtasbi
happy. “I love the food,” said
Thorpe. “It tastes great and it’s really
fresh.” Thorpe added that he also
likes Terri Franks, one of the store’s
servers, but that’s another story.
His store is the fi rst Taco Del Mar
in Contra Costa County and, if the
business climate improves, he plans
to open an Antioch store.
