Kathy Hotz, prepare a box of humanitarian supplies and gifts
in their Brentwood classroom for the troops in Afghanistan. The students
have helped pack and ship 36 boxes of supplies designed to
make the soldiers’ lives a bit easier, and for them to distribute to the
destitute population. To contribute to the ongoing effort, call Fran

U.S. Army Lt. Christopher Wayne Parker of the 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry
Regiment enjoys a USO visit from comedian Carlos Mendez during
Parker’s recent deployment to Iraq. A member of the first class to attend Discovery
Bay Elementary School, Parker returned home in June to wife Jamie,
son Zack and daughters Ashley, Jazlyn, Celeste – and Loralai, who was born
two months after Parker was deployed. The lieutenant is currently stationed
at Ft. Benning, Ga., training on mortars. His mother is Donna Mattingly of
Discovery Bay.
