Practices Commission and were assured
that the Simon and Tetreault signs are in
compliance.
Was this an attempt to discredit, another
lame act of desperation? I should
note at this time that Finetti signs use the
word “elect” as well and are legal.
Is it such a bad idea to bring new
insights and ideas to our town board? We
don’t think so. We support Mark Simon
and Ray Tetreault because we believe
they have the integrity and professionalism
to serve our community well.

Did I attend the wrong function?
Editor:
After reading Ruth Roberts’ account
of the candidates’ speeches at the
Chamber of Commerce Business Expo,
it appeared to me that many of us must
have attended a different function than
the one Ruth is reporting on.
Her account of Bob Doran’s address
doesn’t even resemble anything he said.
Mr. Doran sat down behind a desk and
read from a notebook about the history
of the CSD. After 10 straight minutes of
reading about what went on in the past,
he was stopped by Chamber President
Tim Mobley, who told Bob that he had
gone over his time limit. Mr. Doran
answered that he had four more pages to
read.
Bob Doran never once mentioned
the issues facing Discovery Bay and gave
absolutely no indication of his plans to
make any changes in the way his board
has run our CSD over the current term.
Mr. Doran never once took any blame
for, or even acknowledged, the raw sewage
spill or pending lawsuit facing our
town. I’m not sure which speech Ruth
listened to, but it certainly wasn’t the one
the rest of us heard.
When it came to Ray Tetreault, she
made a point of saying that he was a past
CSD Board member who lost re-election
last time out. What she didn’t say was
that during the election, Ray, who was
running his own campaign with little
to no funding and no major endorsers,
such as the ones involved in our present
contest, lost by only a handful of votes.
Had Ruth interviewed Ray, she would
have known that information.
I couldn’t help but notice that when
Ruth mentioned me, she made a point of
using buzz words like ‘newcomer” and
“fi rst-time candidate.” I would have to
point out to Ms. Roberts that if I’m a
newcomer and fi rst-timer, what does that
make Jennifer Finetti? When I purchased
my fi rst home in Discovery Bay and
opened my fi rst small business, Mrs.
Finetti was still in junior high school.
I have met Jennifer and her husband
only a few times, and although
I consider both of them to be caring,
honest and sincere people, I believe that
Ruth Roberts, as a reporter, should have
pointed out that Mrs. Finetti’s campaign
