E.T. in Rivertown
The first event in the 2008 season’s
2econd Saturday series will be
an outdoor screening of the 1982
Stephen Spielberg classic “E.T.: The
Extra-Terrestrial,” rated PG. The
Rivertown Moonlight Movie in May
event will be held Saturday, May
10 beginning at dusk (around 7:30
p.m.) at the Antioch Marina in the
Barbara Price Marina Park (foot of
L Street). There is no charge for admission.
“The movie starts at dusk, but
we expect that some people will begin
showing up around 7 o’clock to
pick their spot,” said Brian Nunnally,
economic development analyst
for the city of Antioch. “Of
course, with the 16x9-foot inflatable
outdoor movie screen, there really
won’t be a bad spot.” Event attendees
are strongly encouraged to bring
blankets and/or chairs, and Papa’s
Kettle Korn will be on hand to offer
its specialty popcorn, cotton candy
and slurpees.
Some of the additional events
planned for the 2econd Saturday series
include an antiques appraisal,
a downtown business sidewalk sale,
a non-traditional dog show and
a pumpkin event for kids. All the
events are free. For more information,
call Nunnally at 925-779-6168
or e-mail bnunnally@ci.antioch.

Eavesdropping on genius
Take a cubist painter, add a frizzyhaired
scientist, put them together in a
Parisian bar, and what do you get? In
Steve Martin’s “Picasso at the Lapin
Agile,” you get absurd entertainment
plus insight into two of the 20th century’s
most infl uential fi gures: Pablo
Picasso and Albert Einstein.
And that’s what the audience
at Heritage High School will get
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday,
May 7 to 9 at 7 p.m., as “Picasso at
the Lapin Agile,” directed by Heritage
sophomore Skyler Madsen, will
be put on entirely by high school actors
and crew members as an endof-the-year
project. Tickets may be
purchased at the door for $7 and all
proceeds will go to the Heritage Drama
Department.
